Plan transition rules (TenaBill platform staff)
Control which plan-to-plan moves a merchant is allowed to make from their own console's billing page — self-serve upgrades and downgrades between TenaBill platform plans.
Console: TenaBill merchant console → Settings → Platform plans → Manage plan transition rules (/settings/platform-plans/transitions)
Access: Same restricted allowlist as Platform plans — platform-operator merchant accounts signed in via OIDC only.
How this works
A plan with no rules at all is unrestricted: merchants on it can self-serve to any other active, publicly visible plan. This is the default for the standard tiers (Starter/Growth/Scale).
The moment a plan has at least one rule, moves away from it are limited to exactly the rows defined for it — nothing else.
Moving into a hidden/exclusive plan (one with Publicly visible unchecked on the plan edit page) always requires an explicit rule targeting it, regardless of what rules exist on the source plan.
Existing rules
Table of every configured rule as From plan → To plan. Click Remove to delete a rule — this does not affect merchants already on either plan, only future self-serve moves.
Adding a rule
Select a From plan and To plan from the dropdowns (hidden plans are labeled) and click Add rule.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| A merchant reports they can't self-serve upgrade to a plan you expect them to reach | Check whether the source plan has any rules — once a plan has one rule, only the listed destinations are allowed, all other moves are blocked |
| A merchant can't reach a hidden/exclusive plan | Hidden plans always need an explicit rule pointing to them; add one from the source plan they're currently on |
| Rule won't save | Confirm both a From plan and To plan are selected — the button stays disabled until both are chosen |
